Garden bloggers' bloom day February 2015.

I missed bloom day in January, even though I had but three things to post. It doesn't get much easier than January. Also, so many people are buried in terrible weather, why wouldn't you celebrate having blooms in your garden?

Friends is on Netflix streaming. That's why. Also, Greg pulled a quilt that his Grandmother made him out of storage and it makes our couch dangerously comfortable.

Sarcococca ruscifolia

Hamamelis I. 'Early Bright'

Mahonia x media 'Arthur Menzies'

But I'm ready to rejoice: I'm finally past the season when Ross had a monkey and the weather has been so delightful lately! I'm getting off the couch, but only for a little bit.

Arctostaphylos 'John Dourley'

Daphne odora 'Mae Jima'

Euphobia 'Blackbird'

Crocus chrysanthus 'Romance'

All of my hellebores are blooming and all of them look pretty terrible. I wasn't quick enough to get Sluggo down this year.

Helleborus orientalis 'Metallic Blue Lady'

Othonna cheirifolia

Rosemary

Arctostaphylos bakeri 'Louis Edmonds'

Helleborus x 'Black Diamond'
Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata' with a bumble bee!
Not pictured: Pieris japonica, whose blooms I always miss even though the entire shrub looks gift wrapped and Euphorbia myrsinites.

Happy bloom day! Spring is near! Thank you to our host, Carol, over at May Dreams Gardens.

  1. Happy Garden Bloggers Bloom Day! Your weather for this coming week is going to be great, I hear. Ours isn't bad as well, so I plan to get out there and do some more tidying.

  3. Having Daphne blooming in the garden would make me celebrate all by itself. Happy GBBD! Spring is near.

  4. Do be careful with leaving the comfort of couch and T.V. to quickly. Your body could go into shock at experiencing fresh air and sun again and shut down for a while. Besides, there are a lot more episodes of Friends to watch. Your blooms are gorgeous! Happy GBBD!

  5. But wait, your Othonna cheirifolia isn't dead and is blooming, how did you manage that?

  6. How incredible to have something blooming right now! I have one hellebore bud that probably regrets not going dormant since we are expected to have lows below zero this week. Hamamelis flowers look like party streamers. :)

  7. I have no idea! I'm going to buy more. That should ensure that it dies.

  8. I could not live where you do. You are made of tougher stuff!

  9. I'm trying to slowly titrate my body to this whole "going outside" thing. Happy bloom day!

  12. Haha - Friends on Netflix! I know EXACTLY how you feel. That's all I want to do too, but I have steeled myself. Mind you, I probably should start watching soon, or the same thing will happen that happened to Battlestar Galactica - I totally missed it! I covet your Early Bright!

  15. I think I must have gotten the sturdiest specimen at xera. That thing has been exuberant.

  16. I have one of those quilts, too. It was ALWAYS my sick blanket and I still like to pull it out when I don't feel so well. It's the BEST!!

  17. I specifically went out yesterday JUST to smell my daphne!!

  18. Greg had it stashed away for so many years, when I finally brought it up I was like, "Why have you been HIDING this from me?"

  19. My Great Grandma (who was Great) used to tell me the stories behind each scrap of fabric in the quilts she made. No better way to hibernate.

  23. Very nice seeing all your blooms. I've been hoping for an early spring, but I'm not sure I'll be able to join in GBBD until April.
